Alyia Writes is my little labour of love aimed as a lifestyle resource guide for the modern woman who still enjoys reading magazines in this day and age of short-form content, and who loves catching up on blogs during her morning train commute or some much needed alone time while the tv plays in the back. It’s a work in progress, just as I am – just as we are, constantly evolving over the years. However, I’m hoping it gets to be a little bit of everything from DIY projects ranging from home to entertaining, beauty and style. I love the current wardrobe I’ve curated, travel guides – I have an inexplicable love for London – sometimes I think I may have lived there in a past life or who knows, in a parallel universe, all things wellness (this one’s really a work in progress) and personal development (my forte!). Now that you’re here, I’m hoping you’ll join the ride with me in this crazy thing we call life. I also hope this blog (+ my Instagram) gets to be a safe space, judgement-free zone for all you like-minded & like-hearted women; a space you can come to for inspiration, a friend in rush-hour traffic, or just when you need a much needed laugh. I’ve been told I’m funny.
Meet Alyia
I was going to refer as myself in third-party, however let’s be honest. It’s a small blog – a labour of love. I am the founder + editor + photographer + content creator + social media manager. I started this blog at the age of 28 just after tying the knot to my dear husband after dating for just over 4 years. We call him E on the blog! I’m starting a new decade this year, my THIRTIES – that I am so excited about. I’m currently in my slow living era – though as you can see I can never sit still, hence the blog + the many other projects I take up where I am based in Kuala Lumpur. Prior to this, I spent over 5 years in corporate within the Energy sector as a Communications Specialist. No crazy stories about working in corporate here, I loved it! I will say that communications has always been a huge part of who I am. I can never shut my mouth. I’ve dabbled in public speaking, Toastmasters (sounds like something related to burnt toasts and breakfast, but I assure you it’s quite the opposite) and I’ve been part of the debate team all my life – making me quite the contender when it comes to arguments. But as I like to say, I express myself with more clarity and passion when I’m writing – making this blog my little passion project. My home is now my safe haven and hidden oasis, with Netflix and a bookshelf filled with my favourite fictions being my current best friends. I pride myself in being a true Taurus hailing from Venus – the planet of love, beauty, and pleasure, associated with feminine energy that represents women, relationships, art, creativity, and luxury which simply is ALL THE THINGS I LOVE (+ my mischievous little nephews. I can’t get enough of them). All cliches aside, I truly hope this becomes a space where we can all inspire and be inspired by one another. Be the Samantha, Miranda & Charlotte to my Carrie?
